Ficus Benjamina (Variegated)
Also known as the Weeping Fig, the Benjamin Fig, or sometimes, just as just Ficus, the Ficus Benjamina provides voluminous, bushy texture upon a slim trunk and wispy stems. In comparison to other trees of the Ficus family, this tree has relatively smaller leaves. Although this tree can grow to be 98 feet high in its natural habitat, it will typically remain under 6 feet tall indoors.
How to keep it Leafy:
Leaves dropping is commonly a sign of stress, usually from over- or underwatering. Check your soil moisture by feeling a few inches below the surface with a finger, or sticking in a skewer or chopstick and checking how much-wet soil sticks to the stick. Water this plant thoroughly when the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry.
Water Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. |
Sunlight Bright indirect. Direct, bright sunlight should be avoided. |
Humidity Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 30-60% humidity. |
