Calathea Setosa

The Calathea Setosa, also called Ctenanthe setosa, is a relatively minimalist and less fussy member of the prayer plant family. The plant is upright and tall, and its leaves are greyish green with thin green veining. Although it still requires frequent watering, it is less prone to crispy edges. It is a member of the prayer plant family, Marantaceae, which are named for the manner in which its members' leaves fold upwards at night. These plants tend to grow best in medium to low light and soil that is constantly moist.

How to keep it Leafy:

Water this plant with filtered water or water that has been left out overnight, as it is particularly sensitive to chemicals in the water and can begin to brown around the tips and edges. In addition, maintain high humidity in order to prevent crispy edges. Although more sensitive than many plants, this plant will reward you with its beautiful leaves and unusual movement.

Water

Water 1-2 times per week, only allowing the top half-inch of soil to dry between waterings.

Sunlight

Low to medium. Direct, bright sunlight should be avoided.

Humidity

Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 60-80% humidity.
